About Me

Bio

Born and raised in DFW, I have extensive experience in writing, graphic design, and video editing. In my current position, I am self-motivated to analyze the company's needs and create solutions that optimize the company's resources. I love utilizing my creativity to create instructional designs that are engaging, accessible, and beautiful. When I'm not working, I enjoy crafting (crochet, embroidery, etc.), reading, hiking with my dog, video games, and cooking.

Education

I had the privilege to go to a Project Based Learning high school that specialized in technology and real-world applications. I learned how to collaborate with others and make entertaining presentations to local business leaders.

In college, I expanded on my natural talent for writing through extensive training with published authors. I learned how to create an enjoyable experience for even the driest of concepts.

I worked my way through college, developing crucial skills in time management. Working full-time while learning helped me grow my passion to succeed in all aspects of my life. I am proud to have risen through the ranks of my company from Cashier to Head of Marketing and Sales while simultaneously graduating with honors from the University of North Texas Honors College.

Employment

In my current role at Primo Brands from 2022-present, I worked as an Instructional Designer under James Trotta, Ph.D. At Primo Brands, I have developed my knowledge of the academic side of Instructional Design. I honed my skills in gap analysis and curated many curriculum and development plans that utilized research proven techniques. In particular, I have found that the ARCS-V motivational design model is useful with resistant learners. As an Instructional Designer, I took on additional responsibilities in addition to what I had accomplished as an eLearning Specialist at ADT. I conducted site visits to observe current practices and determine knowledge and behavioral gaps. I utilized my background in graphic design to create numerous templates (PowerPoint, Word, Adobe InDesign, Video Graphics, etc.). I also collaborated with leadership to create standardized workflows to improve efficiency in project development and ensure consistency and scalability. Some of my favorite work was designing and facilitating workshops to cross-train my peers in my skillset (e.g., graphic design, template use, PowerPoint presentations).

In my previous role at ADT from 2020-2022, I acted as a Jr. Instructional Designer with the title of eLearning Specialist. I implemented the Action Map It method to teach learners the behaviors necessary to reach business goals. This method worked within ADDIE to avoid simply dumping information on the learner and instead teaching through practical application of skills. At ADT I was able to fully develop my Instructional Design expertise and personal style. I flourished when given wide latitude in course design and my proclivity toward video games informed my instructional design to create engaging courses that were both fun and effective. I utilized gamification to design games, scenarios, and eLearning modules with measurable success outcomes. I collaborated with Key Stakeholders during multiple rounds of review to ensure effective training.

I worked at Abundantly Aromatic from 2013-2020, climbing from Cashier to Head of Marketing and Sales. In my role as Head of Marketing and Sales, I developed expertise in marketing, with an emphasis on Social Media and Graphic Design. I also acted as the Head of Employee Training and Development where I created the first employee training program for the company and presented for various wholesale clients with teaching aids I designed myself.
